At the guidance of our 2018-2019 National Vice President, Anne Pfleger, CIT, NAWIC has launched a Leadership Book Club this past month! Members from all over the country are kicking off the new year reading Sheryl Sandbergs' Lean In. Sheryl is the chief financial officer of Facebook and has been a trailblazer throughout her career! Several of the groups are meeting via conference call over lunch hours, while others are meeting in the evening. The opportunity to read, learn and grow with other NAWIC members throughout the country just keeps growing!
The Midwest Region and the South Central Region are joining forces since we are in the same time zone! Together there are six (6) book clubs that are meeting at various times throughout the month. Check out the Leadership Book Club page on the Midwest Region website and keep up with your professional learning and growth!
We've been a little busy kicking off the new year, planning a holiday party, super bowl, Block Kids and great professional development meetings. So frankly, we forgot to share our Officer and Board Member installation ceremony and announcements! The installation ceremony was held at Carmen's Cafe in Brookside and Vickie Nickel, past Midwest Region Director conducted the ceremony. She shared some outstanding word on setting our compass for the future and chapter member, also presented each officer and director with a lovely pocket/travel compass. Since this was the first official chapter gathering since the 2018 Annual Conference in Orlando Fl, the chapter celebrated receiving the 2018-2019 National Marketing & Membership Award at the conference in August.
The following chapter members were elected in May 2018 and installed on Sept. 17, 2018:
