It is with heavy hearts that the National Association of Women in Construction, Gr. Kansas City, Missouri Chapter will be cancelling this year’s Camp NAWIC for high school girls.
The safety and health of campers and volunteer staff is always our highest priority. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), and its impact on our normal camp schedule, we have been unable to engage sufficient volunteers from the building trades and sponsor organizations to teach the campers. Additionally, we have received a significantly diminished number of camp registrants.
We apologize for this change and look forward to seeing you at next year’s camp.
Sincerely,
Christy Turner
President – National Association of Women in Construction, Gr. Kansas City, Missouri Chapter #100
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) partners with members of the Kansas City construction industry to offer high school age girls an opportunity to learn in a hands-on FREE summer day camp the basic skills of carpentry, electrical, welding. Camp activities also include a field trip, tool demonstrations, and much more!
Journey level tradeswomen led the girls with instructors at various locations in safety, carpentry, concrete, painting, plumbing, electrical and welding skills during this free camp. By the end of this week, Campers will have several projects to take home with them and show off the skills they learned. We've got lots of pictures to share, so click through them or let the slideshow at the bottom of this page run on its own!
